Sometimes we find ourselves rising into a place we haven't been before. The view changes and new possibilities appear. And somewhere along the way, we begin to see ourselves and the world around us a little differently. Floating Up was created around that feeling of awakening. Three hot-air balloons drift above a mountain landscape, carried upward into an open expanse of natural shell that changes continuously with the light. The design is a celebration of movement, possibility and the courage to keep rising toward whatever comes next. Created in two distinct variations, Blue Yonder and Wind Dance, each version uses the natural character of the shell to create a completely different atmosphere. Blue Yonder Expansive blue Australian abalone creates the sky in Blue Yonder, with flashes of intense pink iridescence appearing as the shell catches the light. Milky movement within the abalone gives the sky remarkable depth, while warm brown mountains ground the landscape below. Three balloon silhouettes float into all that blue, giving Blue Yonder a feeling of openness and possibility, like looking toward a horizon that has suddenly become much larger. Wind Dance Wind Dance is the more expressive of the two variations. Blonde-tinted Pāua abalone forms the sky, chosen for the remarkable movement within the natural shell. Turquoise Agoya abalone creates the mountains, while wisps of the same turquoise sweep through the dial like currents of air. Some pieces of Pāua have dramatic swirls that appear to climb through the sky. Others move in entirely different directions. That natural variation is part of Wind Dance. No two skies will ever be exactly alike, and each dial takes its character from the shell used to create it. The Dial Each Floating Up dial is individually handcrafted from pieces of genuine natural shell that are selected, cut, cleaned and inlaid by hand. Because abalone is created by nature rather than manufactured to a specification, its color, iridescence and patterns vary from piece to piece. Those differences are especially beautiful in Floating Up. As the watch moves on the wrist, light travels across the shell, revealing colors and patterns that can disappear and reappear from another angle. Floating Up is a reminder that sometimes the most extraordinary part of moving forward is discovering how much more there is to see once we begin to rise. Case sizes: 38mm Band size: 20mm Swiss Quartz
