La Promenade La Ville comes from the French "city" and reads as [la promen`ade la v`ille]. The model is based on the painting "Over the Town" and thus received the corresponding name. The French language was chosen as a tribute to a long period of the author's work dedicated to France and as the most suitable in spirit, which reflects the theme of the collection. In his works, Chagall often depicted Paris and Vitebsk; and almost all the female images in his works were dedicated to his wife and muse Bella Rosenfeld.
