The rectangular Fears Hand-built in Britain in small batches. The Fears Arnos Collection continues the tradition of naming our core watch families after locations in Bristol with historic relevance to Fears. Arnos Vale is the area where the Fears headquarters are located today, but also the home to the cemetery where both our original founder (Edwin Fear) and his son and successor (Amos Daniel Fear) happen to be buried. The Fears Arnos Opera Black joins the Pewter Blue in this important collection that focuses on contemporary watches with an angular case shape. The Fears Archive is well stocked with elegant rectangular watches, all with this distinctive tall and thin silhouette. Case: Curved 22.6 x 40mm (end of lugs), stainless steel, brushed and polished, 20mm lug width Dial: Opera Black colour, black onyx and white lacquer Strap: Comes with two black straps: Epsom calf leather & Grosgrain silk, both hand-made Movement: Sellita SW1000-1b, time only, automatic Water Resistance: 30 metres (3 ATM) CASE The Arnos ' slim and elegant rectangular case takes inspiration from the rectangular watches in the Fears Archive dating from the 1920s and 30s. The Arnos case is expertly machined from 316L Stainless Steel, in Switzerland, to a level usually reserved for precious metals. This precisely milled case has then been finished with a combination of linearly brushed and highly polished surfaces. This tall, slim watch is supremely comfortable due to its elegantly curved profile - the crystal, case and caseback all possess the same matching curvature that maps the contours of the wrist perfectly. Complementing the case is a new bespoke (subtly onion-shaped, yet contemporary) winding crown, signed with the Fears Cypher. DIAL Expertly made in Germany, the Arnos Opera Black dial continues the design ethos of this range with a circle set within a rectangular that in this example exudes a monochromatic elegance. Outer Dial – a segment of polished black onyx Inner Dial – a crisp white lacquer The otherwise negative space is filled with a set of thin protruding roman numerals that emanate from the centre to perfectly fill the expanse of the outer dial. HANDS The Arnos uses solid ‘Fears pipette’ shaped hands that feature a central diamond-cut bevel down each edge and the tip, before being coated in a Black Gold plating. The expertly three-way mirror polished surfaces will catch the light brilliantly and thus enhance legibility. MOVEMENT The Arnos is powered by a top-grade Swiss-made, automatic Sellita SW1000 movement (that has been customised for Fears to display just hours / minutes). Winding itself when worn on the wrist, this small but mighty movement offers a power reserve of 46 hours and features a Fears Blue decorated rotor (which as per Fears tradition, also features the flower of Bristol motif). STRAPS Each Arnos Opera Black comes complete with two equally elegant straps that have been specially chosen for this model. Epsom Leather The Arnos Opera Black is fitted with a hand-made Obsidian Black strap crafted from Epsom leather for everyday wear. The premium leather used for this strap is prized for it's unique texture and durability, and is widely used by luxury houses for their small leather goods. The pebbled pattern embossed on the top side gives the leather a distinctive look and the complex tanning process it will had undergone prior increases it's resistance against scratches and scuffs. Lined in genuine Alcantara® dyed a deep shade of blue, this lining is supremely soft against the skin yet resistant against wear. This strap is finished with Fears' bespoke pin buckle (featuring the Fears Cypher). Grosgrain Silk For when you may be required to don your finest dress, the second strap is the perfect accoutrement - crafted from the finest Grosgrain silk this strap brings a clean and tailored look to already elegant ensemble.
